OUR CO-PRODUCTION FILM GIRL AMERICA STARTS IN SLOVAK THEATERS

After a successful international premiere in Tallinn, Estonia, the Czech-Slovak-Swiss co-production film Girl America by Viktor Taus will also be presented in the Slovak cinemas.

Director and producer Viktor Tauš comes with the film experience of the year. Girl America tells its story in an unconventional stylization that resembles a surrealistic geyser full of colours, life and dreams. Although there is not a single realistic scene in the film, the intense feeling of reality does not leave the viewer for a moment. Nothing is real, and yet everything you see on the screen is real. Story. The characters. Scars. Everything is authentic. The children here play real characters of abandoned children, and since they themselves mostly come from orphanages, they flesh out the stories of their characters with their own fates.

Viktor Tauš first staged the story of Girl America at the Jatka 78 theatre, where it was seen by more than 100,000 spectators. She is also the girl Viktor Tauš met in the 1990s, when he himself was living on the streets as a homeless man. “We were part of the first generation of victims of freedom. The homeless at that time were mainly thousands of children who grew up alone, without parents, in socialist orphanages.”

The film will also be presented to Slovak audience in theatrical distribution, the premiere is scheduled for November 21, 2024. The Slovak distributor of the film is Magicbox.
