UPCOMING SERIES SELECTED FOR MIFA IN ANNECY
Our upcoming series I Want To Know!, that was inspired by the film The Kite by Martin Smatana, was selected for the prestigeous pitching forum MIFA in Annecy.
Our films will be presented in April and May as part of a great historical retrospective of Czechoslovak, Czech and Slovak animated films called ANIMATION | ANIMATION at the Vienna Film Museum.
Viewers will be able to see our films THE PANDAS, SH_T HAPPENS, THE KITE, NINA, THE FLYING HORSE and 39 WEEKS, 6 DAYS.
Our film SH_T HAPPENS after its premiere in short selection at Orizzonti at the Venice International Film Festival and Animation Spotlight at Sundance continues its festival journey and will be presented at major film festivals in Vilnius, Atlanta or Moscow as well as at the Anifilm animation film festivals in Liberec and Anifest in Zagreb.
After the world premiere at the Berlinale in 2019, the Czech-Slovak-Polish co-production film The Kite by Martin Smatana was presented at more than 110 festivals around the world, including the most important animation film festivals in Annecy, Zagreb, Ottawa and Stuttgart.
This year it has added another 6 awards to its 23 awards from the previous festivals. These are the Next Generation Awards of the 5th SIFFCY International Film Festival for Children and Youth in India, the Best Animated Film Award from the 3rd PSIAF 2019 International Animated Film Festival in Palm Springs, USA, The Audience Award from 4th Indie Junior Allianz 2020 in Porto, The Payot Black Movie Award for Best Children’s Film from the Festival Black Movie 2020 in Geneva, the Prize for Best Short Film from J.E.F. International Film Festival in Belgium and the award for Best Youth Short Film at REGARD – Saguenay International Short Film Festival 2020, Saguenay in Canada.
The upcoming film The Nightsiren by Tereza Nvotová will be presented at the prestigious Frontiers Film Market, where it will be presented along with the other 11 projects to film professionals from around the world.
The event will take place in Karlskrona, Sweden from 26 February to 29 February 2020.
Slovak animation has great success abroad. After the short-film The Kite at the Berlin festival and its acquisition to the MoMA in New York and the world premiere of the short film by directors David Stumpf and Misha Mihalyi SH_T HAPPENS at the 76th prestigious Venice festival, Slovakia will also be represented for the first time in modern history Sundance Festival, to be held from 23 January to 2 February 2020.
SH_T HAPPENS will be screened in the short animation selection Animation Spotlight, featuring the other 7 short animated films. For Slovak cinema, it is first premiere at the Sundance Festival.
